Drawing vocabulary.

These are the basic terms we use when Drawing professionally.

  1. emphasis: intensity or forcefulness of expression

  2. texture: the feel of a surface or a fabric

  3. shading: graded markings that indicate light or shaded areas in a drawing or painting

  4. perspective: appearance as determined by distance from the viewer

  5. linear perspective: the appearance of things relative to one another as determined by their distance from the viewer

  6. line: a mark that is long relative to its width

  7. shape: the visual appearance of something or someone

  8. vertical: at right angles to the plane of the horizon or a base line

  9. horizontal: parallel to or in the plane of the horizon or a base line

  10. diagonal: having an oblique or slanted direction
