About Local Cats
Local Cats Coloring Books was a project that began with the mission to fix and feed a family of cats living on Shults Rd. Bluffton, SC. Now, the books are sold across the world, in stores and online. They are available in large stores like Amazon and Walmart, and in local business such coffee shops and restaurants. Today, the Local Cats books and products support not only the cat population in Bluffton but also many Free Art projects for kids in developing communities.
When we befriend a new company, we love to engage and celebrate what they do. For that reason we design a custom cover with the front of their building and/or their staff or what they offer. Businesses such as Burnt Church Distillery and Corner Perk in Bluffton, SC. Dockside and Skull Creek Boathouse on Hilton Head Island, carry their very unique and personalize cover.
Why People Love it
When I first started sketching this book, I didn’t really imagine that it would be a book at all. I simply loved my town and loved cats, so I drew the beautiful buildings and the “Cat People” walking around, for my own amusement.
I think that creativity often comes from a place of authenticity and playfulness. People enjoy the books because of it. They enjoy seeing places that they know and love of their hometown. Characters who might look like their neighbors. Things that they do, like driving golf karts or hanging out at the park. The Local Cats books are stories of our communities, of what we like to do for fun and the child-like way of seeing reality.
